2025‐2026 STANDING COMMITTEES

You are SBTA. Please take the opportunity to get involved in your Association. The various committees listed below are ways to help your Association. Your help is needed and always welcome.  Committees meet mostly on Wednesdays or Thursdays after school.

SBTA Standing Committee Descriptions

Community Involvement:

The Community Involvement Committee connects our union with the families and neighborhoods we serve. Through service projects, partnerships, and local events, we strengthen relationships and show that we are invested in our communities beyond the classroom. By joining, teachers have the chance to lead positive change, support students outside of school, and build pride in our profession. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, make a difference, and highlight the vital role educators play in every part of our community’s success.

Scholarship:

The Scholarship Committee plays a key role in supporting the future of education by setting clear, fair criteria for awarding scholarships and carefully reviewing student applications. Committee members help ensure that deserving students are recognized for their hard work, leadership, and potential. Joining this committee is a meaningful way for teachers to directly impact students’ educational journeys while working with colleagues to uphold high standards of equity and excellence. It's a rewarding opportunity to help open doors for the next generation.

By joining, teachers can help shape meaningful development opportunities, connect with colleagues across sites, and contribute to a stronger, more informed membership. It’s a great way to grow professionally while supporting others in doing the same.

New Member:

The New Member Committee welcomes and supports new educators by promoting a strong sense of connection, inclusion, and union pride. This committee introduces members to the benefits and resources of the association, fosters relationships across all roles and experience levels, and encourages active involvement from the start. By joining, teachers can help build a positive, united culture that values every member’s voice.
